Adding chemical to pool
  • Drain off winter cover. Add makeup water under winter cover for easier removal.

  • Remove, wash, and store cover and water bags.

  • Add 1 quart of Suspend-All and 1 quart of algaecide per 20,000 gallons of water.

  • Install light, ladder, dive board, and other accessories.

  • Start pump and filter (make sure the filter has been cleaned).

  • Filter water for 24 hours.

  • Add 1 pound of granular chlorine and 1 pound of oxidizer shock per 10,000 gallons of water.

  • Vacuum pool and backwash filter as needed.

  • Continue filtering. After 6 to 8 hours, test and adjust pH, alkalinity, and stabilizer.

  • We will test your water for FREE, so bring in a sample to make sure the recipe is right.

  • When the water is clear for 24 to 48 hours, begin your regular sanitizer and filtering routine.

  • Remove ladder, dive board, light, and other accessories.

  • Balance pH, water hardness, and chemical levels.

  • Drain pool below intake skimmers and return valves.

  • Clean and vacuum pool.

  • Turn off heater, blow out lines, and drain water from skimmer.

  • Add pool anti-freeze to pool lines and plug them.

  • Add anti-freeze to skimmer and place gizmo in it.

  • Drain filter and pool pump, and clean and inspect DE filter.

  • Drain sand filter for 1 week, re-plug from bottom, and add antifreeze.

  • Add pump protect and replace drain plug (optional but recommended).

  • Add winterizing kit according to directions.

If you don't use a winterizing kit, follow these steps:

  • Add 1 pound of granular chlorine and 1 pound H2O oxidizer per 100,000 gallons of water.

  • Swish chemicals with wall brush.

  • Place pool cover and water tubes or straps.

  • Add a little water to the cover to prevent blowing in high winds (not required if using straps).

  • Three days later, add 1 quart algaecide and 1 quart Suspend-All.
